Terms & Conditions
Version 1.0 · Last updated 6 July 2026
1. Who we are
My StoryWing ("My StoryWing", "we", "us") creates personalised children's storybooks based on your family's real travel destination. My StoryWing is operated by [Company legal name], registered at [registered address], company number [number]. You can contact us at [contact email].
2. These terms
These terms and conditions apply when you browse this website, use the free book preview, or place an order. By ticking "I agree to the Terms & Conditions" or by placing an order, you accept these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the preview or place an order.
You must be at least 18 years old to use the preview tools and to place an order. This website is intended for use by parents and guardians — not by children themselves.
3. Using the site and the free preview
Our website lets you build a free live preview of a personalised book: you choose a destination, enter a child's first name, and create the book's hero character — either by selecting ready-made options or by generating a character with the help of artificial intelligence (from a description or from a photo you upload).
- The preview is offered free of charge, for personal, non-commercial use, so you can see your book before deciding to buy.
- AI character generation is limited to a fair number of attempts per person. We may change or withdraw this limit at any time.
- AI-generated illustrations can vary between attempts. The preview is an accurate guide to your book, but small differences between the on-screen preview and the printed product (for example in colour reproduction) may occur.
- We may suspend or restrict access to the preview tools in case of abuse (see section 11).
4. Photos and content you upload
If you choose to create the hero character from a photo, the photo will normally be of a child. Because of that, this section matters — please read it.
- You must have the right to use the photo. By uploading a photo you confirm that you are the child's parent or legal guardian, or that you have the explicit permission of the child's parent or legal guardian to use it.
- What we do with the photo: the photo is sent securely to our illustration service solely to generate an illustrated character in our art style. We do not store the photo — it is processed transiently and is not kept on our servers after the character has been generated.
- What we do store: we store the illustrated character image (never the photo). This happens as soon as the character is generated — including in the free preview, before and whether or not you buy anything — so that your work in progress survives closing the tab or coming back later. If you place an order, that image is kept with your order because we need it to produce your book. If you do not order, you can ask us to delete it at any time using the contact details below.
- Licence you grant us: you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to use the content you provide (name, dedication, photo, generated character) only for the purpose of creating your preview and producing your ordered book. We will never use your child's photo or character for marketing without your separate, explicit consent.
- Content standards: you must not upload photos of people without authority to do so, or any content that is unlawful, offensive or infringes anyone's rights. We may reject any order containing such content.
5. Your personalised book
- Every book is made to order to your specification: destination, child's name, character appearance, age and optional dedication.
- Please check your personalisation carefully before ordering — especially the spelling of names and the dedication text. We print exactly what you approve, and we cannot accept returns because of a mistake made when entering the personalisation (see section 8).
- We may review orders for adherence to our content standards before printing.
6. Orders, prices and payment
- Prices are shown in pounds sterling (GBP) and include VAT where applicable. Delivery costs, where charged, are shown at checkout before you pay.
- Your order is an offer to buy. A contract is formed when we email you an order confirmation.
- We may refuse or cancel an order (with a full refund) in cases of pricing errors, suspected fraud, or content that breaches these terms.
- Payment is taken securely at checkout. We never store your full card details.
7. Delivery
- Printed books are produced on demand and typically delivered within 2–5 working days in the UK and most of Europe. Estimated dates shown at checkout are estimates, not guarantees.
- Digital books are checked by hand and then emailed to you, normally within 48 hours of order confirmation.
- If your order has not arrived within 30 days of the estimated date, contact us and we will replace it or refund you in full.
- Risk in the products passes to you on delivery.
8. Cancellations, returns and refunds
In short: because every book is personalised and made just for your child, we can't accept "change of mind" returns — but if anything is faulty, damaged or not what you ordered, we will always make it right.
- Personalised products are exempt from the usual 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, because they are made to your specification and clearly personalised. This means that once your order is confirmed, it cannot be cancelled or returned due to a change of mind or an error you made in the personalisation.
- Faulty, damaged or incorrect items: if your book arrives with a printing defect, transport damage, or does not match the personalisation you approved, tell us within 14 days of delivery (photos help). We will reprint and resend it, or refund you in full — your choice. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
- Before printing: if you spot a mistake right after ordering, contact us as soon as possible. If your book has not yet gone to print, we will do our best to correct or cancel it, as a courtesy.
9. Digital products
- The digital book (PDF) is supplied for personal, family use only: you may store it and print it at home, but not sell, share publicly or commercially exploit it.
- Every digital book is prepared and personally checked before delivery, and is sent to your email within 48 hours of your order. Because it is personalised to your specifications, the 14-day cancellation right does not apply once we have begun producing it; if you spot a mistake, contact us as soon as possible and we will do our best to correct it before delivery. Your rights in respect of faulty digital content are unaffected.
10. Intellectual property
- All intellectual property in this website, our stories, illustrations, characters, art style and brand belongs to us or our licensors. You may not copy, reproduce or commercially exploit any of it without our written permission.
- You keep all rights in the content you provide (names, dedications, photos). Your personalised book is for private, family enjoyment; the underlying story and artwork remain ours.
- AI-assisted illustrations created through our preview are part of our product and may not be extracted and used outside your book preview or purchased book.
11. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the site — including attempting to bypass preview limits, scraping or copying content at scale, uploading malicious files, or interfering with the service. We may restrict or block access where we reasonably believe these terms are being breached.
12. Our responsibility to you
- If we breach these terms, we are responsible for loss or damage that is a foreseeable result of that breach. Our total liability in connection with any order is limited to the price you paid for that order.
- Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded by law.
- We supply products for private use only; we are not liable for business losses.
13. Privacy and children's data
We take the privacy of your family seriously — especially children's data. How we collect and use personal data (including the transient processing of photos described in section 4) is explained in our Privacy Policy. In summary: we only use personal data to provide the preview and fulfil your order, we do not store uploaded photos, and we never sell personal data.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version and date at the top of this page tell you when they last changed. The version you accept when previewing or ordering is the version that applies to that preview or order.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes may be brought before the courts of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK or the EU, you also keep any mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live.
Questions about these terms or your order: [contact email]. We aim to reply within 2 working days.
